There is a lot of competition in this category but here are my top 5 shooting guards in NBA history:
5) Reggie Miller – Clutch. Clutch. Clutch. As fiery a competitor who has graced the court. Yes, I know that he’s never won an NBA championship, but he deserves to be on the top of the list, just for what he did the New York Knicks alone.
4) Clyde Drexler – If it wasn’t for Jordan, he would have been known as the best off guard of his generation. Also there has never been a nickname that represented a player better than “glide”. He was like a gazelle out on the open court. Nobody moved faster, with as little effort as “the glide”.
3) Pete Maravich – If he played for better teams, he would be even more respected than he is now. An unbelievable showman, he could pretty much do anything he wanted with a basketball. The “pistol” brought the street ball game to the NBA.
2) Kobe Bryant – When Jordan retired, nobody thought that anybody would come close to the dominance that he brought to the game. Well, Kobe Bryant certainly put an end to that. He is simply unstoppable. There isn’t a player in this league who could play him one on one.
1) Michael Jordan – Who else would it have been? What else can I say that hasn’t been said already. He is not only known as the best basketball player to every play. He may be considered the greatest athlete in the history of sports.
